Sun Java VM2 is Sun Microsystems’ implementation of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), providing a standards-compliant runtime for executing Java bytecode across multiple operating systems and hardware platforms. Distributed with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and the Java Development Kit (JDK), it combines a HotSpot-based just-in-time compiler, adaptive optimization, and generational garbage collection to deliver high performance while preserving Java’s portability, safety, and robustness. It supports multithreading, secure class loading and bytecode verification, and integrates with standard Java tooling for monitoring and debugging.
